Sample Cooler Questions

Why is a boiler sample cooler necessary?

Why is a boiler sample cooler necessary?

Why is a boiler sample cooler necessary?

Boiler water is too hot to take a sample from safely and can flash to steam when exposed to atmosphere if it is not properly cooled first.

How do sample coolers work?

Why is a boiler sample cooler necessary?

Why is a boiler sample cooler necessary?

A sample cooler is a heat exchanger with a stainless steel sample tube and an outer shell for cooling water.  The sample is drained through the inner coil as cooling water flows in the shell in the opposite direction which absorbs heat.

What is the process for taking a steam sample?

What is the process for taking a steam sample?

What is the process for taking a steam sample?

1. Open the cooling water inlet valve first.

2. Open the sample inlet valve and gradually open the sample outlet valve to regulate the flow to achieve a cooled sample.

3. Allow the sample to run for a while before collection.

4. When enough liquid has been collected close the sample inlet first, and

then the cooling water inlet valve.

What is the heat exchange surface area?

What is the process for taking a steam sample?

Eddington Industries sample coolers have one sq. ft. of heat exchange surface area along the coil.
